It’s turkey time and if you prefer to have someone else do your cooking, there are several great restaurants, caterers and specialty-food shops offering slow roasted, seasoned and ready to eat turkey. With the myriad of choices available, finding the perfect bird to grace the dining table is not hard — if you know just where to get your fix. We’ve put together a list of places to get the best turkeys this Christmas. Order early as supplies are limited. Most stores require at least 48 hours’ notice.

This Homemade Sambal Tom Turkey draws inspiration from what is arguably Singapore’s most beloved hawker food – Hainanese Chicken Rice. The ubiquitous dish’s unique ginger-chilli sauce, blended with fresh red chillies, lemongrass and a generous serving of freshly pounded ginger paste, makes for a perfect pairing with a roasted Tom Turkey.

This golden-brown succulent bird will steal the limelight at any feast with its irresistible aroma and full flavours. Based on Executive Chef Foo Jong Kwang’s very own Portuguese curry chicken recipe created at least two decades ago at the request of the late Mr Khoo Teck Puat who was the owner of Goodwood Park Hotel, this version is mildly spicy with just a hint of sweetness, making it appetising and comforting. The essence of this delicious dish lies in its secret homemade marinade of fragrant spices that includes garlic, ginger, dried chillies and turmeric. Two days of marination ensues, followed by one hour of steam-baking and another hour of baking to achieve incomparable succulence and flavour retention. The accompanying curry gravy is meticulously made with fresh milk and the same spice mix – which in this instance is slow-cooked to ensure a perfect melding of flavours. Chunks of potato, carrots and onions are wok-fried with curry powder to serve as an additional accompaniment. Every order also comes with two 21cm crisp baguettes. Chef recommends serving it in the style of a stew – scoop a generous portion of curry gravy onto a plated dish of turkey slices with the potatoes, carrots and onions; and have slices of baguette ready for dipping.
