Affordable yet exquisite dim sum buffet at Hai Tien Lo

Beginning in late June 2015, Pan Pacific Hotel’s famed fine dining Chinese restaurant, Hai Tien Lo (海天楼), launched a special Weekday Dim Sum Buffet. Featuring handcrafted dim sum items by Chef Lee Siaw Cheen (李小珍), the special buffet menu boasts of a selection of more than 30 items including double boiled soups, handmade dim sum and signature dishes.

The Dining Table dropped in for a business lunch in July and was pleasantly surprised to note that almost all the tables were occupied – a mix of business diners, hotel guests and families enjoying the good meal over good conversations.

Choices for the double boiled soups include Braised Bean Curd with Fish Maw and Shredded Chicken in Thick Broth, Peppered Hot and Sour Soup with Scallop, Braised Shredded Abalone with Crab Meat in Thick Broth and a traditional Double-boiled Soup that changes daily.

There are 18 items from the unlimited dim sum selection for diner. Several new culinary creations include Steamed Minced Beef Dumplings with Ginger and Spring Onion which is beef, spring onions and ginger wrapped in paper-thin skin, Steamed Pork and Prawn Dumplings with Black Truffle for a twist to tradition using the aromatic black truffle, Golden Deep-fried Prawn Paste with Wasabi Mayonnaise which is prawns fried in fresh prawn paste and added with homemade wasabi mayonnaise for diners who like a spicy kick.

Additionally, diners can pick 3 dishes from Hai Tien Lo’s list of 18 signature staples which include their highly popular Barbecued Crispy Roast Duck, Baby Octopus and Barbecued Pork in Champagne sauce, Cantonese Beef Brisket and Tendon and Stir-fried Carrot Cake with Signature Homemade XO Chilli sauce.

Hai Tien Lo’s Weekday Dim Sum Buffet is priced at S$56++ per guest. Each guest will enjoy a complimentary serving of Chilled Homemade Bean Curd with Bird’s Nest. This nourishing dessert is handmade from a traditional age-old recipe where the silky smooth texture of homemade Bean Curd is complemented with delicious Bird’s Nest to give a sweet finish to the meal.
