New Opening: Osteria Art at Market Street
Located on the bustling stretch of 55 Market Street, Osteria Art is Singapore’s newest Italian restaurant by renowned restaurateur Beppe De Vito. A silver service restaurant and bar, Osteria Art brings an elegant and intimate dining experience paralleled to the very best osterie in Milan, Rome and Florence, with classic Italian cuisine, a 500-label strong wine list and the city’s best aperitivo selection.
The 80-seater osteria celebrates the Italian gastronomic heritage like no other in Singapore and sets one of the best value-for-money standards for Italian cuisine in town. The cuisine of Osteria Art takes inspiration from centuries-old classics that stood the test of time across regions and generations of Italy. The menu at Osteria Art is an authentic showcase of traditional ingredients, familiar tastes, and generous flavours.
With the Bollito Misto Soup with Bone Marrow Crostino ($23), Osteria Art pays homage to the sumptuous stew that had made its way across the Italian peninsula in many delicious variations. Simmered with many different cuts of beef, veal, chicken and pork, the bollito misto captures all the flavourful essences of the meats in one light but hearty broth.
The Suckling Pig Porchetta ($98, serves two) is a refined rendition of the iconic Italian pork roast. Here, the chefs combine the traditional preparation methods with new cooking techniques to achieve an elevated result of sinful crackling, juicy, succulent meat and savoury herb stuffing.
In true Italian spirit, every evening is started with an aperitif. Beautifully finished in Italian marble, solid cherry wood and designer copper lamps, the adjoining bar is a showstopper on its own in both style and selection. A well-developed bar food menu of traditional Italian bites is available to go with its extensive list of fine spirits, Italian grappas and vermouths, and craft cocktails designed for pre-dinner drinks.
Each and every cocktail on the menu is named after a classic Ferrari model, as an ode to the shared trait of honouring timeless classics that Osteria Art has in common with the Italian automobile brand. Challenge ($12) is a twist of the popular aperitif Bellini, which combines prosecco and peach with elderflower and moscato. The bright-red Negroni reincarnates as La Ferrari ($15), a lethal libation of gin, red vermouth and campari.
The wine list is a swoon-worthy compilation of over 500 different labels at great quality prices, with a focus on old world wines. Following the same ethos of paying respect to classics, Osteria Art boasts arguably one of the city’s best collections of Italian and French wine heavyweights, such as Barolo, Brunello, Super Tuscans and especially Bordeaux. A substantial selection of half bottles is also available for business lunches.
