If you are craving for comfort food, a big bowl of piping hot porridge accompanied by hearty dishes like preserved vegetables and omelette, is what you need. Coffee Lounge at Goodwood Park Hotel is one of the popular destinations for Taiwan Porridge and has been a favourited haunt of many local and foreign gourmands since its inception in 1984.

Characterised by hearty dishes with robust flavours, the Taiwan Porridge menu has become a popular mainstay at the Coffee Lounge. Coffee Lounge offers an extensive selection of 46 traditional and wholesome a la carte Taiwan Porridge dishes that are best savoured with light rice porridge. Executive Sous Chef Foo Jong Kwang has recently added some new items to the porridge menu.

New highlights on this menu are Shredded bamboo shoots in chilli oil 辣油笋丝 (S$9); Cold preserved vegetables 凉拌榨菜丝 (S$9); Fried omelette with crabmeat 蟹肉煎蛋(S$10); Home style tofu 家常豆腐 (S$12); Sautéed chicken with macadamia 厦果鸡丁(S$14); Stir-fried chicken with black beans 豆鼓鸡丁 (S$14); Shredded pork with preserved vegetables 榨菜肉丝 (S$15); Steamed minced pork with salted fish 梅香蒸肉饼 (S$15); Sautéed squid with sambal 叁峇花枝(S$16); Stir-fried carp with black bean 鼓汁生鱼片 (S$18); Deep-fried pomfret with chilli and salt 椒盐昌魚 (S$25) and Stir-fried kai lan with flat fish 扁魚芥兰(S$11) – all heartwarming dishes.

The most popular with diners is the Taiwan Porridge A La Carte Buffet (S$39 per adult, $19.50 per child) which offers unlimited orders of 31 favourites from the main a la carte menu as well as a lavish dessert buffet spread featuring cakes, ‘nonya kueh’, local desserts and ice cream to choose from. From now until 13 July 2014, the dessert buffet also features six types of durian pastries as part of the hotel’s Durian Fiesta. The price for Taiwan Porridge a la carte buffet with durian pastries is S$49.80 per adult, $24.90 per child until 13 July 2014.

Noteworthy selections include Braised pork belly with dark soy sauce 京酱扣肉; the very popular Chilled beancurd in Japanese soya sauce & pork floss 营养豆腐; Fried omelette with chye poh (preserved vegetables) 菜脯煎蛋; Sautéed chicken with dried chilli 宫宝鸡丁; Wok-fried beef with spring onions and ginger 姜葱牛肉; Stir-fried kang kong with sambal 叁峇翁菜 and Baby squids in sweet oyster sauce 蚝汁苏东仔. Diners will still have the option to order from the main menu at a la carte prices.

If you are looking for a quick-lunch option, Coffee Lounge also offers the Taiwan Porridge in bento box. Featuring five of the most popular dishes from the main Taiwan Porridge a la carte menu, you have a choice of two lunch sets which are rotated on a weekly basis. The Taiwan Porridge Lunch Bento is priced at S$21 per person.
