New Peranakan Afternoon Tea at Pacific Marketplace

A family meal of delicious homemade dishes is a cornerstone of the Peranakan culture. Reminisce the good old days with your friends or family while you indulge in authentic Peranakan cuisine at Pan Pacific Singapore’s new Peranakan Afternoon Tea at Pacific Marketplace.

From now to 9 August 2014, dig beyond the aroma of Nonya food and embark on a culinary journey around the Malay Archipelago with an array of eight Nonya delights. Presented in a four-tiered tiffin carrier reminiscent of lunch boxes used in Singapore of yesteryear, highlights include Kuay Pie Tee with Sweet Turnip and Prawn, and Open-Face Otak Sandwich with Quail Egg. The key highlight is the aromatic Nonya Chicken Curry served with freshly baked French Baguette. Asian spices including cumin and turmeric used to make the rempah paste lend their aromatic lift to the succulent chicken pieces, giving the dish an added dimension in flavour.

End the Afternoon Tea on a sweet note with traditional delights such as Kueh Lapis and Onde Onde, a sweetened rice cake topped with luscious coconut shavings, and filled with fragrant palm sugar. Guests may also reminisce over unlimited Ais Gem biscuits, a local snack characterized by colourful sugar frosting that would bring back memories of childhood.
