Mother’s Day is coming sooner than you think. Even if your mum says she doesn’t want anything special on Mother’s Day, you can still treat her to a special meal on Sunday, May 11. This Mother’s Day, indulge Mum in a French experience at Balzac Brasserie & Bar. The Balzac Mother’s Day Brunch menu commences with none other than the quintessential French delicacy, an amuse bouche of a Foie Gras Custard with Pumpkin Emulsion and Crispy Farmer’s Bread. Not one, not two, but three selections of appetizers will be available for Mom to relish on her special day. From Freshly Shucked French Oysters with Lemon, Red wine and Shallot Vinegar to In-House Smoked Salmon with Darphin Potato Crème Fraiche and Lemon and Pan-Fried Foie Gras with Caramelized Apple and Duck Jus; these selections are available on free flow from ‘live’ counters, throughout brunch. For the main course, choose from the newly introduced communal sharing main course dishes, the Cochon Braise Aux Pommes De Terre Sautees – Braised Spanish Pork with Sautéed Potato and Natural Jus, served in a cocotte. With portions for 2 or 4 persons, this dish is slow cooked in an cast iron pot to allow the infusion of flavours. Then, there is the Balzac Signature Main Course, a must try for all first-time visitors – the Beef Cheeks A La Cuillere – braised over 48 hours, and served with Bordelaise Sauce and Mashed Potato ‘Grand Mere’. Should Mum prefer fish over meat, there is the Cabillaud Francaise Poelle – Pan-seared Cod Fish with Sautéed Spinach and Roasted Tomato. As they say a woman always leaves room for dessert, and probably the same applies for Mum. The Balzac Cheese Cake – a homemade strawberry cheese cake wraps up the meal beautifully, leaving a satiated Mum and well-earned place for you in Mom’s good books.

The hearty pasta dish Tagliatelle Con Manzo E Spugnole, in which Wagyu Short Ribs, Morels Mushroom and Fontina Cheese are tossed with Chef Denis’ silky homemade Tagliatelle. This Mother’s Day, lavish the most important woman in your life with a six-course feast of sumptuous, time-honoured Nonya dishes at Straits-Peranakan dining establishment INDOCAFE – the white house. Available during both lunch and dinner service, the meal starts with a mouth-watering trio of appetisers such as the delightfully crispy Keluak Money Bag, a deep-fried dumpling generously stuffed with minced pork and the flesh of the quintessentially Peranakan buah keluak, Grilled Tiger Prawn char-grilled with a special blend of spices and the Otak Pangang, luscious cod blended with prawn similarly char-grilled to achieve its subtle smokiness and wrapped in an iconic banana leaf. The Spring Chicken with Rose Wine is nutritious, yet flavourful. Mum may then opt for a choice of Deep-fried Flounder doused in a fragrant spicy-sweet Nonya sauce or Steamed Flounder accompanied by a crunchy, lightly salted homemade pickled radish sauce. Meat-loving mothers and their families can look forward to Babi Assam, succulent pork belly braised in a welcome spicy-sour sauce mixed with fresh, crunchy bamboo shoots and chewy black fungus for a heartier texture. Another delicious dish is the Tempoyak Sambal Asparagus, where the fermented durian is sautéed with sambal sauce before being stir-fried with crunchy asparagus. Conclude the meal on a luxurious note with a chilled dessert of Slow-cooked White Fungus with Bird’s Nest.

For one day only, Chef Kazuhiro Hamamoto puts together a special Mother’s Day Lunch and Dinner Menu, inspired by this season’s freshest premium produce flown directly from Japan. The highlights of the six-course Mother’s Day Lunch Menu include Summer Vegetable Salad, Joshu Wagyu Sukiyaki and Uni Rice with Otoro and Ikura. And the Mother’s Day Dinner Menu includes the Joshu Wagyu Sukiyaki, and premium offerings such as Ki-sho’s popular and beloved signature dishes like Uni with Caviar, Ayu Tempura, and Charcoal Grilled Seasonal Fish. Diners can also look forward to a selection of Assorted Sashimi from the season’s freshest catch on the Mother’s Day menus, and toast mothers with a complimentary glass of Antica Fratta Classic Method 2007 or Yuki No Bosha Hiden Yamahai Junmai Ginjio.
