Goodwood Park Hotel’s Durian Fiesta returns with new creations
Durian lovers rejoice! Goodwood Park Hotel’s famous Durian Fiesta is back to satisfy your cravings from 24 Feb to 13 Jul 2014. Besides perennial favourites, the pastry chefs have outdid themselves this year to bring four new creations. These pure pleasure delights are handmade only with the finest D24 durians that is known for its alluring aroma and creamy intense-flavoured flesh. To top it off, the much anticipated ‘Mao Shan Wang’ Durian Specialities will also be available for 31 May to 13 July 2014.
For the ultimate Dessert and Durian treat, don’t miss these new exquisite creations. Durian Gula Melaka Roll ($10/slice, $62/1kg), an Asian take on the traditional Swiss roll, this ethereal-soft creation boasts luscious D24 durian mousse enveloped within a vanilla sponge luxuriantly-drizzled with fragrant gula melaka syrup. Brimming with local flavour, the Durian Malay Cake ($8/slice, $42/ 700g cake) is a delicious rendition of the humble local steamed Malay cake. Moist sponge layered with an eye-catching smooth, creamy durian-kaya spread and covered all round with desiccated coconut.
Prefer lighter flavours and especially for non-durian eaters who do however eat durian flavoured pastries, these new dainty bite-sized treats will be a great way to start indulging in the king of fruits. Mini Durian Charlotte ($20/4 pcs) is an exquisite layered dessert of spongy boudoir biscuits lined with crunchy hazelnut base, brimming with D24 durian mousse and the cute pinwheel shaped sweet Mini Durian Donut ($9/2pcs, $25/6pcs) topped with rich durian mousse is a perfect tea time treat. The renown signature Durian Puff ($8/2 pcs, $20/6pcs, $48/20pcs) is also an irresistible light choux pastry that will satiate any durian craving.
Durian fans who want to try everything, the Durian Combo ($29) is a great sampler of the Goodwood Park Hotel’s Durian pleasures. It’s a decadent varied delight of Durian Mousse Cake, Durian Gula Melaka Roll, Mini Durian Donut, Mini Durian Charlotte and two pieces of Durian Puff. Prized for its characteristic ambrosial flavour and fragrance, ‘Mao Shan Wang’ durians are featured in Goodwood Park Hotel’s two popular limited edition products from 31 May to 13 July 2014, ‘Mao Shan Wang’ Ice Cream ($21.80 per 16oz tub) and ‘Mao Shan’ Power Puff ($17.80 per piece, available from 12 noon to 7pm), a mega-sized choux pastry freshly-piped upon order with heavenly ‘Mao Shan Wang’ durian mousse.
