Cook & Brew: New gastro-bar at The Westin Singapore
The Westin Singapore recently returns to Singapore, with new dining concepts for food lovers to explore. Making its global debut in Singapore is the new dining concept developed by Westin, Cook & Brew. Located on the 33rd floor, this new gastro-bar exudes an old-school gentlemen club charm with a modern and relax settings. Serving up modern takes on classic bar bites, pub dishes, local comfort food and offering a curated list of fine wines and over 100 different types of beer from 17 countries, Cook & Brew is not your usual hotel bar for in-house guests, but an alluring drinking and dining venue, which has already become a favourite watering hole for workers from nearby offices.
With a stunning views of Marina Bay and Singapore’s south coast, you get to sip on their signature cocktails such as Manuka Honey Vodka-based Last Words ($15), or the chocolate liqueur-based Chocolate Indulgence ($15), which comes with vanilla vodka, Hershey’s syrup and milk. This gastro-bar also has a wide range of whiskeys (from $12), more than 100 beers from around the world (from $8) and a meticulously-curated list of fine wines.
If you are feeling hungry, there are small bites to start you off, with nibbles like Grilled Mac & Cheese Stack ($12), sandwiched between golden brown rye bread with melted Swiss cheese and topped with homemade coleslaw. You can also add crispy bacon if you want for an additional $2. Other must-try favourites on the menu include the Soft shell crab sliders ($16), which comes with steamed bun, sweet chilli sauce, konbu pickles, cauliflowers and avocado cream and the Truffle Potato Gnocchi ($21) with melted pecorino cheese, rich cream sauce and toasted wild mushroom.
The menu also features signature dishes such as Sushi Bowl ($16), which is packed with bbq salmon, egg roll, avocado, herb ricotta cheese, and large plates like Chilli Fried Chicken ($18 for half or $25 for whole) and Veal “Schnitzel” ($24) for sharing. There’s also a selection of local options, such as Chilli Crab ($29) with steamed rice, spring onions and fried shallots, Rendang Curry ($21) with slow braised boneless beef and steamed rice and the Hot and Sour Seafood Pot ($27), filled with prawns, mussels, fish fillet and mushrooms.
For a sweet ending to a great meal and drinks, try the Mango Sticky Rice ($14) with toasted sesame seeds and homemade coconut sorbet or the Caramel Panna Cotta ($14) with fresh raspberries and whipped mascarpone cream.
Cook & Brew also offers daily special dishes created by Executive Chef Sven Cepon which are not from the menu. Indulge in interesting dishes such as sardines pasta in tomato sauce, chicken and duck terrine and pork ribs braised for 12hrs and then deep fried to crispy brown. Drizzled with wasabi mayonnaise and chopped pistachios. The meat was fall off the bone goodness. A great finger food to go with your drink at this new gastro-bar. So if you want to try something new off the menu, we recommend you to check with the staff.
