Enjoy a traditional German breakfast at Brotzeit
Brotzeit, the German Bier Bar and Restaurant has recently revamped its breakfast menu to include more authentic German favorites and sandwiches. The new menu is available daily from 8am to 12 noon only at the The Raffles City outlet.
One of the highlights in the new menu is the Katerfrühstück or ‘Hangover Platter’ ($15), purported to be a perfect cure for a heavy night out and you’ll definitely find it’s a breakfast with a difference. This traditional dish consists of beef goulash soup, smoked herring with bacon and egg. The platter is specially accompanied with a special beer cocktail made up of Paulaner Original Munich Lager, premium vodka, lime juice, a touch of Blue Curacao and a few drops of Angosturo Bitters. It’s apparently a herbal remedy founded by a German medicine man which is now used in many cocktails. This seemingly strong beverage is not exactly what you would expect a hangover remedy to be but you have to try it to see if it works.
Another new addition is the Bayrisches Frühstück ($13.50), a typical Bavarian breakfast dish that comes with a Weisswurst and brezn served with Weissbier, a Bavarian wheat beer. If you love your eggs, go for the Bauerntoast or ‘Farmer’s Breakfast’ ($10.50 – see main image above) made up of a hearty portion of ham, bacon and eggs served on crusty bread or the Pochierte Eier mit Lachs ($12.50), a delightfully sinful dish of poached eggs served with homemade Rősti, smoked salmon and salad greens. If you prefer smoked ham have the Pochierte Eier mit Schinken ($11.50) instead.
For non-meat eaters, you have a choice of the Palatschinken ($8), a sweet treat to wake up to, consisting of freshly made crepes filled with apricot jam and served with an assortment of fruits, and the hand crafted Vegetarische Sandwiches ($8.50) made with egg mayonnaise together with mushrooms and mozzarella cheese with zucchini and tomatoes. Bread lovers, tuck into the Brote mit Marmelade ($8), a medley of lovely pastry breads served with fresh fruit and assorted fruit jam imported all the way from Austria, made with the best quality fruit from Europe.
Prefer something quick and light that you can have on the go? Get the new sandwich flavours served on multigrain breads such as the Schinken Käse Sandwich ($8.50) filled with emmentaler cheese and smoked leg ham and the Lachs Sandwich ($9.50) filled with thinly sliced smoked salmon, fresh salad
greens and olives.
