Vegan burger even meat eaters will drool over
Rock singer Chrissie Hynde of The Pretenders loves it and local celebrity Adrian Pang raves about it. We are talking about veggie burgers at VeganBurg, a local burger joint.
If you have not tried it, you don’t know what you are missing out. Opened in Eunos two years ago, this vegan fast food joint has since opened four outlets in Singapore and has grown popular among vegans and non-vegans alike. Serving only food that does not contain any animal products, including milk and eggs, VeganBurg offers several specialty vegan patties, including the Hawaiian Pineapple, Smoky BBQ, Char-Grilled Satay and the best seller – Creamy Pepper Shrooms.
This Great Singapore Sale, it’s not all about shopping. VeganBurg is offering a brand new Chilli Krabby Burger ($8.90) to let you fill your tummy before you head down to the shopping belt for some serious bargain.
This limited edition burger takes a twist on Singapore’s favourite dish – Chilli Crab. But don’t expect to find any crabmeat in it. Sandwiched in buns made from organic wholemeal grain, the konjac patty that contain no gluten, trans fats or dairy products, has the right moisture and density, plus bold natural flavours. Topped with freshly cut romaine lettuce, juicy bits of pineapples, tomato and chilli sauce and heavily covered with cut chilli and spring onions, the burger has a sweet and spicy tang and was so good that you can’t stop taking another bite. If you want it a little spicier, you may ask for more cut chillies to give your burger an extra kick. You may also request for more pineapples for a more tangy twist, but be prepared to pay an additional $1.
So how does the burger taste? Well… it’s not that they taste exactly like hamburgers or anything like Chilli Crab, but it sure does taste exactly like an awesome veggie burger. This is one good veggie burger that even a meat-eater would happily eat.
Besides burgers, VeganBurg also has interesting side dishes to go with your burger. The must-tries include the crispy potato and spinach pops ($3.90) and vegan Franks – tofu hot dogs ($3.90). The deep-fried potato and spinach balls are firm and crispy outside, but creamy inside. The tofu hot dogs look, taste and feel just like the real thing, except they contain no meat! If you still have space for one more item, you have to try their organic brown rice ice cream. This is a sweet treat that you can’t get it anywhere else.
The new Chilli Krabby Burger is now available for a limited-time-only at all VeganBurg outlets. You also get to enjoy 10% off for every purchase of Chilli Krabby set meal.
