Are you craving for some hot and spicy Nonya cuisine? If you are, you are in for a treat this May at Olive Tree Restaurant at InterContinental Singapore.

From 20 to 31 May 2013, Peranakan guest Chef Baba Nelson Li collaborates with InterContinental Singapore’s very own celebrity Chef Eric Neo to cook up Peranakan delicacies that are truly reflective of the authentic Straits-Chinese cuisine. Rich in taste and distinct in flavour, Peranakan cuisine fuses Chinese cooking styles and preparation techniques with Malay, Indian, Thai, European and Indonesian influences, resulting in a harmonious blend of tangy, aromatic and spicy flavours.

During the two-week long buffet promotion at Olive Tree, you will enjoy popular Peranakan signatures like Bakwan Kepiting, a clear aromatic broth with minced meat balls and crabmeat; Babi Pongteh, sweet and tender stewed pork braised with fermented soya beans and mushrooms; and Ayam Buah Keluak, a well- known Nyonya dish of chicken braised in a robust blend of pounded spices and ‘keluak’ nuts (an Indonesian black nut).

Other dishes not to be missed include Nasi Ulam, fragrant rice with coconut and myriad herbs; Udang Nanas, tangy and spicy prawns with pineapple; as well as Assam Babi, flavoursome tamarind braised pork. End your meal with to-die-for desserts such as Durian Pengat, a rich dessert with a custard-like texture, and perennial favourite Chendol.

The Peranakan buffet special is priced at $68++ per adult and $19++ per child (7 to 12 years old) and is available for dinner only from now till 31 May 2013.
