What’s your go-to snack when you are feeling peckish? Curry puffs from Old Chang Kee or pancakes from Mr Bean?

If you are bored with these snacks, fret not! There’s a new snack bar in town. Located on level two of VivoCity, Squirrel Bites offers crispy pastries known as “Summer Bites”, fried dough pastries which are crowned with 12 choices of either sweet or savory toppings such as caramel apple cinnamon, kaya avalanche and cheesy garlic butter.

Some of the must-tries Summer Bites include the chocolate ganache and hazelnut ($4.80), a pastry with generous layer of chocolate ganache topped with hazelnut. The gooey chocolate ganache melts in your mouth if it’s eaten while the pastry is still hot. The strawberry-studded chocolate and nuts ($5.00) combines the contrasting flavours of the sweet and tangy and the Sandy Trio ($5.00) gives you a tropical flavour with sliced bananas, coconut shavings and a layer of molten chocolate. If you like garlic bread, you will love their cheesy garlic butter ($4.50). The fried dough is dollop with smooth and velvety garlic butter, very much like frosting on cakes.

The outlet also offers over 20 varieties of “Ice Bites”, which are cones of flavoured shaved ice topped with tropical fruits and other sweet delights – a perfect solution to combat Singapore’s tropical heat. The must-tries are the soursop & watermelon and the peaches & nata de coco. The Ice Bites are priced at $3.70 (8 ounce + two toppings) and $4.80 (16 ounce + three toppings). Additional topping goes at $1.50.

So if you’re feeling peckish or disillusioned, and fancy a thrilling new snack to distract you momentarily from the crushing grind of life, nibble on Squirrel Bites!
